Domain Reputation Moves Forward; Additional Standards Considered
    This is related to: CertifiedDomain
Signs that the internet is moving to a domain-based standard continue to proliferate. The latest: Goodmail Systems last month published a list that Goodmail has dubbed the industry's first domain-based whitelist of good email senders. Called CertifiedDomain, it is the first in a new line of domain-based products to be introduced by Goodmail throughout 2010. "As more and more email senders embrace email authentication standards such as DKIM and SIDF, it is now time to assign and track reputation at the internet domain level," says Daniel Dreymann, president and co-founder of Goodmail. Owners of internet domains listed on Goodmail's CertifiedDomain list undergo an accreditation process, passing checks across a number of public and private databases. Goodmail cross-references a domain's reputation against this data, making sure the applicant adheres to email sending best practices. | Marketing Vox
  • Inbox Insider: Partnerships clear the way for video in e-mail marketing
This is related to: CertifiedVideo, CertifiedVideo .GIF
Industry experts have chatted about using video in e-mail marketing for years, but the technology was held back by deliverability and bandwidth issues. Yet these days, e-mail service providers are conquering those challenges. They're more often coming to the table with video e-mail solutions, a result of their partnerships with video vendors, as well as e-mail deliverability tools that bypass the former technical issues. For instance, Goodmail Systems announced a partnership with Liveclicker, a video and e-commerce technology company, last week. They have combined Liverclicker's video commerce application with Goodmail's CertifiedEmail platform, calling the result CertifiedVideo.GIF. The product follows Goodmail's CertifiedVideo, launched last year, which certified senders can use to bypass ISP filters and deliver e-mails with videos within them. | Dianna Dilworth, DM News
  • Computer scammers solicit 'donations' for Haitian relief
Scammers have descended on the Internet in an all-out effort to dupe people into sending them money intended for victims — this time, after the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Amid warnings from the FBI and computer-security companies, a wave of dodgy e-mails and websites soliciting charitable donations has popped up. Suspicious links to websites, for example, are up 400% in the past few days, says computer-security firm Proofpoint. E-mail security firm Goodmail Systems, meanwhile, is part of an industrywide initiative to ensure the e-mail of legitimate organizations, such as the Red Cross, isn't blocked inadvertently when security vendors filter bogus e-mail. | Jon Swatz, USA Today

Email Marketing Options Expand With New Relationships
    New Options with Video Marketing
This is related to: CertifiedVideo, CertifiedVideo .GIF
Email marketing provider Goodmail Systems and Liveclicker, a developer of advanced video commerce applications, have formed a JV in which Liveclicker's video technology will be added atop the Goodmail CertifiedEmail platform. The duo also announced a new service called CertifiedVideo .GIF, which allows Liveclicker-enhanced video emails to be delivered to all Goodmail ISP partners. Having a video render properly in a recipient's email client is not easy but it is possible, according to StrongMail - either by using video.GIF or Goodmail's CertifiedVideo. Even with video.GIFs there are technical "considerations to address, such as file size, bandwidth, etc., but companies like LiveClicker have emerged to handle these aspects, making it very easy for companies to adopt this method," StrongMail said. | Marketing Vox

Goodmail Systems, the creator of CertifiedEmail™, the industry’s standard class of trusted email, and Liveclicker, a developer of advanced video commerce applications, today announced a joint partnership to extend video email marketing to more consumers by adding Liveclicker’s video technology atop the Goodmail CertifiedEmail platform. The companies today also announced CertifiedVideo .GIF, a new joint service that ensures deliverability and automatic play of Liveclicker-enhanced video emails through all Goodmail ISP partners. • The Year of SMS, Sort Of -- And Other 2010 Predictions

Video (Rich Media) and Email. Many of you remember the early days of rich media, plagued with painfully slow connection speeds, uncertain delivery guidelines, email clients that did not render HTML, etc. Rich media was expensive to create and difficult to deliver. With the recent push from GoodMail and others, I think rich media will find its place as a staple in the marketer's arsenal. I am most excited about the ability to run JavaScript within the email itself. For some clients, this is enabling us to create whole new, dynamic experiences within campaigns (including integrating enhanced social media capabilities within the inbox). Stay tuned for more in this area throughout the year. | Ryan Deutsch | MediaPost
